The Derrick Golf & Winter Club

The ‘Derrick’ is a private club located in a prime residential area of southwest Edmonton on 119 St. and 34 Ave.  Members enjoy year round sports and leisure activities including golf, tennis, curling, indoor aquatics, cross country skiing, and a fitness center.  The new irrigation system features 100% high density poly pipe, a weather station, maintenance radios, and a customized pump station.  An ‘extra hole’ on the course allowed members to always play eighteen during construction, and the existing sprinkler system’s mainline remained pressurized and operational.

Glendale Golf & Country Club

The ‘Glendale’ hired Bluegrass Irrigation Consulting Ltd. in the fall of 2003 to conduct feasibility and cost estimate studies on a proposed irrigation system up-grade.  Irrigation system renovations started the following year with ‘Phase 1’ converting their old pump house to a transfer station.  Portions of a new mainline system were installed along with a new pump station that monitored water levels and signaled the transfer to start pumping.   Flow and pump information, as well as other significant data, were also radioed back to the superintendent’s office for daily review and logging.

Lee Creek Golf Course

This course is a redesign of an existing nine-hole layout expanding to eighteen. The architect has built the new nine in and around the existing nine, creating a truly natural eighteen-hole layout. Situated in a wide creek valley, the course spreads out in three directions with elevation changes of over 40 meters. The water supply for the system is a gravity fed pressurized line and the irrigation design incorporates a small booster pump servicing hole #16 and the tees on hole #17.

Minnewasta Golf & Country Club

‘Minnewasta’ is one of Manitoba’s premier golf courses. It is located approximately 100 km’s Southwest of Winnipeg. In 2005, Bluegrass Irrigation Consulting GPS mapped the existing sprinkler system and conducted an irrigation system audit. The results indicated that a new system was required. In 2008 – 2009, a new decoder based irrigation system was installed using high density poly pipe. The system also uses a weather station to monitor changes in climatic conditions and adjust individual sprinkler run times to match.
