Services for New and Existing Golf Courses

We work with Private Member Golf Clubs, Golf Resorts, municipal and semi-private Golf Clubs. Our intensive consultation process is designed to investigate such issues as water supply and quality, topography, soil conditions, and any 'site specific' problems or areas in need of special consideration. A design checklist is reviewed with the superintendent to determine cultural practices, irrigation practices and product preference.

Existing Courses

  • On existing golf courses the head layout around tees and greens is determined on site during the design process. This pragmatic approach allows us to design the system precisely the first time. As a result, there is no need for any extensive field adjustments that could drastically alter the number of sprinkler heads required and the final price.
  • The existing mainline is kept fully operational during the installation process and the superintendent has the ability to continue irrigating while his new system is being installed.
  • We also provide Existing System Audits, which will look at your existing system and give a certified and professional opinion on its performance and inefficiencies. The disruption of play will be kept to a minimum with the superintendent dictating the conditions that the installation contractor must follow.
  • The most accurate information collecting tool for any site is GPS mapping. At Bluegrass Irrigation Consulting we have the ability to accurately 'map' your entire golf course before the design process begins. This information includes locating and computing surface areas of tees, greens, bunkers, fairways and any other feature of the golf course. This process not only helps in design accuracy, but also builds the foundation for as-built drawings.

New Courses

  • On new golf projects we work closely with the architect and owner to gather the most accurate site data available.  Aerial photos and topographical maps are the obvious starting points in this process.
  • The irrigation consultant should be an integral part of the planning process.  At Bluegrass Irrigation Consulting, we look to the architect to provide his or her vision of the golf course and design an irrigation that fits the budget and has the ability to provide years of trouble free service to the client.
