Tom Bourassa, B. Mgt.
President, Lead Irrigation Consultant
Tom Bourassa has always been an avid golf enthusiast and started playing the game at an early age. As golf course superintendent in 1985, Tom self installed his first fully automated eighteen-hole sprinkler system. From that moment he hoped to one day start a company that provided quality unbiased irrigation advice and services that would benefit not only golf courses, but also school grounds, public parks, and homeowners.
He started work on golf courses in the 1970’s. Obtaining his Turfgrass Management Diploma from Fairview College, he understands the importance of the plant / soil / water relationship and how proper irrigation design and operation plays a role in growing in and maintaining high quality turf. Today, he continues to gain knowledge and hone his skills in irrigation design by attending many seminars and conferences in Canada and the United States.
While working at an irrigation distribution company, he gained his Bachelor of Management at University of Lethbridge, Golf Irrigation Designer Certificate, Commercial Irrigation Designer Certificate, and Golf Irrigation Auditor Certificate. Tom is also the only Irrigation Consultant in Canada that is recognized by the American Society of Irrigation Consultants. As well as providing sound irrigation consulting, Tom is a member of the Western Canada Turfgrass Association (WCTA), the Irrigation Association (IA), former member of the Canadian Golf Superintendent’s Association (CGSA), and a former President of the Alberta Chapter of the Irrigation Association (ACIA).
Bluegrass Irrigation Consulting has and will always protect its clients’ investment by making sound decisions based on Tom’s extensive product knowledge, formal education, and his background in the Irrigation industry. He has earned a reputation from both colleagues and clients for excellence in design and attention to the smallest detail.
